Today I discover that one of my favourites songs from Beach House's new masterpiece, Teen Dream, has a previous version in a single from 2008! The distorsionated guitar of the first part changes completely the mood, and then second part is completely different!
You can get both versions and DD them
There's also an incredible acoustic version from an australian beach:
Used to be [Single version] | Used to be [Teen Dream version] |
You are coming home, are you still alone,
are you not the same as you used to be?
As the sun grows high and you serve your time,
does each day just feel like another lie?
Now you know, is it just for show,
just a foolish game that you hide behind?
Don't forget the nights when it all felt right,
are you not the same as you used to be?
Used to be
In an endless night, could you feel the fright
of an age that was and could never be?
So we hold it close when we feel the most
like a love that we could not leave behind
Turn the wheel to each way we feel
til I'm lost and I cannot find you there
Don't forget the nights when it all felt right,
are you not the same as you used to be?
Used to be
Even if I try so hard would we still be coming to an end, even if we spoke the same words would we still turn each phrase Even if its simple rock stars we were given pieces of the heart, and when there is nothing left to pretend we will know its coming to an end Even if we try so hard we were given pieces of our heart, its always good to see you again even if its coming to an end | Coming home any day now |
